One in five children (20%) in the US have untreated cavities. Just about every adult has had a cavity. Across the lifespan, tooth decay can negatively impact the ability to eat, speak, play, and learn. While using toothpaste with fluoride, dental sealants and regular visits to a dental professional helps to prevent cavities, the pandemic has demonstrated the limitations that not being able to work, remote learning and the fragility of our healthcare system has had in addressing oral health needs. It has also highlighted the health disparities experienced by low-income children, special needs populations, and older adults.
We help community leaders, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and the public understand the importance of community water fluoridation for the prevention of tooth decay. With your help, we can expand our educational outreach. Giving a donation to support our mission is an excellent way to strengthen our nation’s health and health literacy.

While the percentage donated by each store varies, on a regular basis you could be earning financial support for the AFI and our work to promote community water fluoridation just by shopping online. The American Fluoridation Institute is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that raises awareness about oral health’s importance and community water fluoridation’s (CWF) role as a “game-changer” – preventing dental pain and tooth decay for more than 75 years. In an era when misinformation spreads rapidly, AFI moves swiftly to identify and correct myths by sharing science-based information through diverse educational platforms.
Donations to the American Fluoridation Institute help to support our mission of educating community leaders, policymakers, and the general public about the importance of oral health and the health benefits of community water fluoridation – a safe, cost-effective, and equitable means for preventing tooth decay.
